Connecting Beads, Buttons and Embellishments to Crochet

Adding beads, buttons and embellishments to crochet is relatively easy. There are a couple of different ways to do it, one is stringing the beads on your yarn or thread beforehand, another is adding them as you work and a third is sewing them in place after your project is finished.

To pre-string your beads, unravel as much yarn or thread as you need, and using a needle if necessary, add the beads to your string. Then, as you work, pull them up into place at the appropriate time.

Another thing you can do is work on your project, and when you need a bead, pick it up with your hook at the appropriate time, adding it in place that way. Sometimes you will need to change hook sizes, from the hook you are using for your project, to a hook that will fit through the bead, but I've found this to be an easy enough task, and to be honest, this is one of my preferred methods for adding beads to my crochet work.

Finally, you can add beads by sewing them on your project, after you have finished crocheting it. This can be time consuming, but it is well worth it for specific desired results.
