Unending Crochet Spiral

The Unending Spiral is a little ditty I came up with while playing with my yarn yesterday. I’ve got purses on the brain because my favorite purse broke this week – so maybe the Unending Spiral is the beginning of an original purse pattern. Although…while I was crocheting the Unending Spiral, the word rug kept making its way to the forefront of my brain. It will be fun to see where this leads…

Begin Your Spiral

Step 1:  Chain 4; form a ring by slip stitching into the 1st chain

Step 2:  Chain 3, double crochet 3 times in the center of the ring

Step 3:  Chain 3, single crochet in ring; chain 3, make 3 dc in ring, chain 3, single crochet in ring again

Step 4:  Chain 3, make 3 double crochet around next chain 3 loop; chain 3, skip 1 dc and single crochet in next dc

Continue Your Spiral as Follows

Chain 3 before and after each single crochet, as well as before and after each group of 3 double crochet stitches. Make 3 double crochet stitches in each chain 3 loop and 1 single crochet in the center double crochet of each group of 3 double crochet stitches.

Grow pattern as big or as little as you’d like. Finish off in any single crochet stitch, or in the 3rd double crochet stitch of any group of 3 double crochet stitches.
