Snowflake Crochet Pattern 112712

by M. J. Joachim
It’s that time of year again! Hang ‘em on the tree, in the windows and wherever it suits your fancyJ
Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow!
This is a fun pattern, because you can actually finish it off in different places, making a few unique snowflakes, all by using the very same instructions.
Foundation:  Make 8 chain stitches and form a circle by slip stitching into the 1st chain
Step 1:  Chain 1
Step 2:  Make (1 single crochet, 3 chains, 1 triple crochet, 3 chain) in center of ring

[Repeat Step 2, seven more times] Join last chain 3 with a slip stitch to 1st single crochet in round. (8 petals)
Step 3:  Slip stitch in each of the next 3 chain stitches and also in the next triple.

Step 4:  Chain 12, make 1 double crochet in the 9th chain from your hook
(I count up from the base – 4 chain stitches)

Step 5:  Chain 3, slip stitch in top of next triple

[Repeat Steps 4 & 5, seven more times]
Note:  Finishing off is optional here.

Step 6:  Slip stitch into each of the next 4 chains; chain 3 (counts as 1st double crochet)

Step 7:  Make (1 half double crochet, 7 single crochet, 1 half double crochet) in next chain loop; make 1 dc in next dc

Step 8:  Make 1 dc in bottom half of next dc; repeat Step 7

[Repeat Step 8, six more times around, ending with a slip stitch to the top chain of the 1st dc in round.]
Note:  Finishing off is optional here.
Step 9:  Chain 1; single crochet in space between last 2 double crochets

Step 10:  Chain 3, single crochet in 2nd single crochet from hook (skipping 1 hdc and 1 sc in between)
Step 11:  Chain 3, make (1 sc, 4 chain stitches, 1 sc) in 2nd single crochet stitch from hook.
Step 12:  Chain 3, single crochet in 2nd sc from hook; chain 3, sc in space between next 2 double crochet stitches

[Repeat Steps 10 – 12 around, ending with a slip stitch to 1st sc in round]
Finish off and weave in loose ends.

That’s all for now, kind people. Until next time, happy crocheting J
