Step 1: Use light violet or purple yarn and follow the Shamrock Motif pattern to make individual lilac petals. (I used size g hook and 4-ply cotton yarn to make mine, but you can vary the size according to your need and desire.)
Step 2: Insert pipe cleaner through bottom of petal; add yellow bead and secure by folding top of pipe cleaner over top of bead. (I used a piece of yellow shell. Let your creativity be your guide to make your lilacs unique and special.)
Step 3: Fold stem of pipe cleaner up a few times to shorten stem. Twist to secure.
Make several lilacs and poke them into floral foam bases to create branches of lilacs and bunches of flowers. Use them to make lilac wreathes, as boutonnieres and to display large stalks of them in vases.
