Bell Edging

By M. J. Joachim

This pattern was adapted from an old pamphlet I received recently from my husband’s grandmother. It would make a pretty trim on holiday towels, pillowcases and table linens, as well as a festive garland for Christmas.
Step 1:  Chain 12, double crochet in 3rd to last chain from beginning
Step 2:  Chain 2, double crochet in 1 chain of original chain 12
Step 3:  Chain 3, turn; make 9 dc in next chain loop space
Step 4:  Chain 2, double crochet in 3rd chain from hook (center [3rd] chain on following chain 5 loops)
Step 5:  Chain 5, turn; double crochet in next dc
Step 6:  Chain 1, dc in 2nd dc from hook
[Repeat Step 6 three more times]
Step 7:  Chain 3, turn; make 2 triple crochet and 1 double crochet in first chain space
Step 8:  Make {1 dc, 2 tr, 1 dc} in each of next 3 chain spaces
Step 9:  Chain 2, dc in 3rd chain from hook of previous row
Step 10:  Chain 5, turn; double crochet in next dc
Step 11:  Chain 2, double crochet in next stitch
[Repeat Steps 3 – 11 for continuous pattern.]
This pattern is a great way to use up small balls of yarn or crochet thread. Embellish this pattern with beads and charms to make it really festive, so you can hang it on the tree.
Thank you for visiting Lots of Crochet Stitches. I hope you’ll have as much fun making this bell edging as I do.
